NohWorldOrder
Made to be worn while performing. Japanese tradition meeting worldwide folklore.
The Noh mask carries a face that is never completely still. Tilt it one degree and grief becomes serenity. Tilt it back and serenity dissolves into threat. The expression lives in the light and the angle, not the clay.
Georges Ayusawa's NohWorldOrder series takes the Noh tradition as its technical and spiritual foundation, but populates it with faces from everywhere — West African, Central Asian, European medieval, invented.
