THE HEARSE

Its original vocation wasn’t to smash speed records or lose the boys in blue, but that’s exactly what happened when Bonnie and Clyde « borrowed » it on its way to the cemetery. Its current patina is courtesy of a few motor improvements, and the « scars » you can’t escape as a criminals’ ride. Like ISADORA, THE HEARSE can be enjoyed sitting on a sideboard or large shelf, or directly on the floor, deluge of sounds and lights included – your pets will hate it.

I wanted to build a big ride, inspired by American pulps, like a gangster’s car in a B-movie. THE HEARSE is made from a lot of sheet aluminium, bits of a slide projector, parts from an old clock, and flea market treasures, all on an oversized frame, with an electric engine powerful enough to move this gigantic lady and its three passengers: Bonnie, Clyde, and the skinny little guy on the back seat.
